Scriptural Requests for Outreach

by Frank Jones

One of the things that congregations should be accomplishing is corporate prayer for the outreach of the Word of Christ into their communities, families, and workplaces. The New Testament gives a diversity of requests that can be prayed. We pray these requests and then, we speak the mystery of Christ. Here are some of these requests.

  • We can pray for individual people groups (Romans 10:1).
  • We can pray that the Lord will open a door for the Word among those you are seeking to reach with the gospel (Colossians 4:3).
  • We can pray that the Lord will give us plainness and clarity in our witness (Colossians 4:4).
  • We can pray that the Lord will move people to seek after Christ (Romans 3:11).
  • We can pray that the Lord will send forth laborers (Matthew 9:38).
  • We can pray that the Lord will open people's ears to hear the Word (Romans 10:17).
  • We can pray that the Lord will grant the gift of faith (Romans 10:17).
  • We can pray that the Lord would grant the gift of repentance (2 Timothy 2:25).
  • We can pray that the Lord would provide opportunity to plant and water. Then, pray that the Lord would grant an increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).
  • We can pray for the mercies of His salvation, [God] being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us (Ephesians 2:4).
  • We can pray that the Lord would grant our church to have a portion of the Son's great harvest and inheritance (Acts 13:1-4).

There are many more requests but these may give you a start as you  pray for your arena of influence.
